skincare tips routineDo you have a skincare routine? Healthy glowing skin can give us such a confidence boost. On the other hand, our self-esteem can take a huge hit as a result of the state of our skin. Our overall health can be reflected by our skin and is one of the biggest indications of aging. It is very important that we take skin care seriously and commit to a routine if we want to maintain healthy skin or combat any issues. Here are 10 skincare tips that you can apply regardless of your skin type, to keep your skin fresh and glowing!

Skincare Tip #1. Wash your skin twice a day, morning and night.

If you’re serious about having healthy skin, you need to be willing to commit to a regular routine. You need to be washing twice a day. If your skin is not in the greatest state, it can be a huge knock off of your self-esteem. I myself have personally struggled with a lot of acne and various skin issues. I’ve tried very many things, but regardless of the issue, I have seen proven time and time that committing to a regular routine makes a huge difference. We can talk about whether one product is better than the other, but really what makes the bigger difference is committing to a routine.

If you’re not willing to commit to taking care of your skin the right way, there’s no real solution for being able to maintain healthy skin.

#2. Avoid excessive or harsh cleaning.

Do not use regular soap, this will dry out your skin! There are a billion different types of cleansers and soaps. Wash for the morning, wash for the afternoon, wash for the night, but really what I want to get at here is that you shouldn’t just be using regular soap. Especially for washing your face or trouble areas that tend to get acne like your chest, back, and arms. If you really want to take care of them, you need to use soap that’s not too harsh.

#3. Use a cleanser designed for your skin type.

Here’s how you can tell how your skin is responding to the products you are using. When you get done washing your face, have you ever noticed if it feels really tight or squeaky clean? If it does, that’s not good. For me personally, I always compare it to using a bar of soap on my body. That just leaves me feeling squeaky clean and I do not like that feeling. Those soaps are just stripping the stuff off your skin. That is a very harsh cleanser or soap. If that is how you are feeling, it’s probably not a good match for the pH level of your skin.

So pay attention to how your skin feels. Your skin should be soft and supple. If your skin does not feel that way after you are cleansing, you probably need a new cleanser. Or, if it’s necessary for you to use a harsher cleanser, you need to make sure that you are also using a toner or a product that will bring your skin back down to the natural normal healthy level. Using regular soap or harsh cleansers dry out your skin. Your skin can overreact by producing extra oils. This can cause acne and lots of other skin issues. So, to keep your skin fresh and glowing, you need to make sure you’re using a good fit cleanser.

#4. Protect your skin from the sun, every day!

When it’s cloudy outside, when it’s rainy outside, when it’s sunny outside, and when it’s snowing outside. Every single day, you need to be protecting your skin from the sun. The sun is a huge factor in the premature aging of your skin. It’s about maintaining your youthful glow, that’s mainly what we’re talking about here today. So, protect your skin from the sun.

#5. Moisturize!

Dryness can make oily skin worse and cause acne and redness. Yes, every single type of skin needs moisture. If your skin is too dry, that can make oil problems worse. Your skin can overproduce oils. This can cause acne, redness, and other skin issues. You need to moisturize your skin. Make it a part of your daily skincare routine!

#6. Drink lots of water!

Water clears out toxins and keeps your skin supple and elastic. Your body needs water. Part of the function of your skin is to keep out gross stuff and impurities. We flush out the bad stuff from our body using water. Your body cannot flush stuff out very well if it doesn’t have enough water. Your skin will not be soft and supple if it is not getting enough water. So, drink lots of water.

#7. Pay attention to how all the products you use on your face affect it, including makeup.

This skin care tip is an extension of what we’ve talked about before, with how your skin feels after you’ve cleansed your face. For instance, how does your skin feel after you use makeup remover? That liquid lipstick? concealer? If you are in tune with how these products are affecting your body, you might start to notice the effect that they’re having on your skin.

#8. Your hair products may also affect your skin!

Your hair products could also be affecting your skin. If your shampoo and conditioner are running on your face and your back, that could be causing issues. Make sure you are choosing professional quality shampoo and conditioner.

#9. Exfoliate once or twice a week, as needed.
